CELEBRACIÓ DEL DIA ESCOLAR DE LA NO-VIOLENCIA I LA PAU

Un total de 400 nens i nenes del Vendrell, van celebrar a l’Auditori Pau Casals el Dia Escolar de la No-violència i la Pau, proposat per la UNESCO.
Des de l’any 2004 la Fundació Pau Casals i l’Ajuntament del Vendrell convoquen les escoles del Vendrell a celebrar aquesta jornada per sensibilitzar els alumnes en els valors de pau, tolerància , respecte i solidaritat.

El violoncel·listA Yo-Yo Ma, el pianista Emanuel Ax i el trio Kalinchstein-Laredo-Robinson van interpretar el passat 25 de gener a Washington i davant de 2.500 persones, el mateix repertori que Pau Casals va interpretar l’any 1961 a la Casa Blanca davant del president John F. Kennedy.

The tests for the PAU CASALS GRANT 2010 took place on Saturday, 15th May. This year’s contest is marked by an innovation in the grants that the Pau Casals Foundation has been awarding since 1984. From now on a single grant endowed with the sum of 12,000 € will be awarded, making it one of the largest grants offered anywhere for cello studies.

Gathering of Elementary Grade Four Cellists of Catalonia at El Vendrell

On Saturday, April 12th, nineteen cello students of elementary grade four from across Catalonia met at El Vendrell in order to visit the town where Pau Casals was born and to share and exchange knowledge and experiences.

The participation for the first time of 70 museums from across Spain presenting their educational proposals is the most notable new feature of Expodidàctica 2008, an exhibition focused on pedagogical resources and teaching materials. Set within the frame of the Education and Work Week, Expodidàctica will be running from April 3rd to 5th at the Montjuïc exhibition centre.

Vil·la Casals' Restaurant re-opens

The restaurant of the Vil·la Casals re-opened its doors to the public in the past month of March. The restaurant will be open on Fridays and weekends in the winter, and daily during the summer months. By reservation, Vil·la Casals’ restaurant offers its services every day of the year to groups of 12 or more persons.

Josep Maria Soler , the present president of the Pau Casals Foundation and father abbot of the monastery of Montserrat, and all the members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees deeply regret the loss of Cassià Maria Just, who had been the abbot of Montserrat between 1966 and 1989 and the president of the Pau Casals Foundation between 1972 and 1989.
