Enric Granados and Pau Casals are two of the most important musicians of our times. Granados, with the piano, and Casals, with the cello, contributed to the artistic creation of the 20th century. From April 17th to July 28th.
Pau Casals and Enric Granados met in Barcelona in 1891. Granados, who was ten years older than Casals, became the latter’s closest friend from the musical standpoint and a sort of older brother in personal terms. Their friendship lasted until the premature death of Granados twenty years later.
The purpose of the exhibition is to shed light on the relationship between the two great musicians through the letters, documents, scores and diverse objects that have been preserved over the years in the holdings of the Pau Casals Museum of El Vendrell, the Barcelona Music Museum, the Metropolitan Opera House of New York and the Biblioteca of Catalonia.
