Blog / We premiere the documentary "International Pau Casals Award. History, present and future".
19/06/2025Music, Pau Casals Foundation

We premiere the documentary “International Pau Casals Award. History, present and future”.

The Diada Pau Casals 2024 concert and “El Pessebre” are also available now.

New premieres on our channel within the CaixaForum+ streaming platform! As part of the celebration of the European Day of Music on June 21, we premiered a documentary dedicated to the young talents participating in the Pau Casals International Award, a co-production of CaixaForum+ and the Pau Casals Foundation.

The documentary “International Pau Casals Award. History, present and future“, directed by Pep Botey, reviews the evolution of the award since its creation in 1984. It includes interviews with award winners from different generations and shows how this recognition has boosted international careers, while transmitting the artistic and human legacy of Pau Casals.

In addition to the documentary, at CaixaForum+ you will find the premieres of two outstanding concerts: the Diada Pau Casals 2024, with Daniel Müller-Schott (cello) and Annika Treutler (piano), and “El Pessebre“, a reduced version of the oratorio premiered in 2022 at the Palau de la Música. This version was commissioned by the Pau Casals Foundation to maestro Antoni Ros Marbà, with the support of Marta Casals, and featured renowned performers such as the Franz Schubert Filharmonia and the Coral Càrmina. The recording was made by the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals.
