Musicians

Anna Meipariani is a young German cellist who has been awarded numerous international prizes, including the Jugend Musiziert, where she received first prize with the highest score. Her concert at the Pau Casals Museum is part of the collaboration between the Pau Casals Foundation and the Rudolf von Tobel Foundation. Together with the young pianist Pau Vendrell, they will perform the sonatas of Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff.

Anna Meipariani, Cello

Meipariani was born on November 10, 2007, and received her first cello lessons at the age of four. Anna has won numerous national and international awards, including first prize with the highest score in the Jugend Musiziert national competition in both the solo cello and chamber music categories. She also won first prize at the Stars at Tenerife international music competition in Spain, as well as first prize and a special award at the Gustav Mahler International Cello Competition. At the 13th Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Croatia (under 21), Anna won first prize in her age category and was named the “Absolute Winner” of the entire competition. In addition, she received six special prizes, including the opportunity to perform with the Zagreb Soloists Chamber Orchestra.

Anna has performed as a soloist in France, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Finland, and Switzerland. She is a scholarship recipient of the German Foundation for Musical Life and has participated in masterclasses with renowned teachers such as Jens Peter Maintz, Conradin Brotbek, Mathias Johansen, and Eldar Saparayev.

Her instrument, a Matteo Goffriller cello (Venice, ca. 1710), has been loaned to her by the State Collection of String Instruments of Baden-Württemberg. Anna is currently a student at the Stuttgart Music School in the cello class of Giga Khelaia. Since 2023, she has also been a pre-university student at the University of Music Stuttgart under the guidance of Professor Conradin Brotbek.

Pau Vendrell, Piano

Pau Vendrell, born in Vic in 2001, began his piano studies at the Escola de Música i Conservatori de Vic with Joan Ribé. In 2017, after completing his professional degree, he entered Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where he studied with Marta Karbownicka. In 2023, he completed his piano degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he studied with Noriko Ogawa, and he continues his studies at EsMUC with Vladislav Bronevetzky.

Throughout his career, he has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany, and has received guidance from renowned pianists such as Cristian Blackshaw and Boris Berman.
