
Luís Dias Canali (cello) is the ex aequo recipient of the AENA Special Prize at the 2024 Pau Casals International Award. He will perform at the Pau Casals Museum accompanied by pianist Yoko Suzuki, a regular collaborator of the Pau Casals Foundation.
On this special occasion, commemorating the 52nd anniversary of Pau Casals’ death, they will perform works by Debussy, Shostakovich, de Falla, Braga dos Santos, and Bosmans.

Luís Dias Canali, cello
Luís Dias Canali (2009), an Italo-Portuguese cellist raised in Gran Canaria, began his cello studies at the age of four with Alba Page in Las Palmas. He later continued his training at the Feuermann Konservatorium in Kronberg and, since 2021, has been studying with Henri Demarquette at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
Luís has performed in several countries, including the Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, and Germany, with solo appearances alongside the IBF Orchestra, the Sorbisches National-Ensemble in Bautzen, and the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra.
During the 2024/25 season, he took part in the Kronberg Cello Masterclasses, the Liechtenstein Music Academy, the Schiermonnikoog Festival (Netherlands), and the Stauffer Academy in Cremona (Italy) under the guidance of Frans Helmerson, in addition to joining the Junior Soloist Programme of the Verbier Festival (Switzerland).
He has been awarded the AENA Special Prize at the 2024 Pau Casals International Award, the Edwin Caplin Foundation Award at the 2025 Verbier Festival, and six first prizes at the International Bach Festival, Stars-at-Tenerife, and Vatelot-Rampal competitions. He currently plays a cello built by Thomas Bertrand.
Yoko Suzuki, piano
Born in Tokyo, she studied piano at Musashino Academia Musicae (Japan) and completed her Master’s degree in Spanish music at the Marshall Academy in Barcelona, where she studied with Alicia de Larrocha, Carlota Garriga, and Carmen Bravo, widow of Frederic Mompou.
She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician around the world. In 2019, she was recognized by the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona with a certificate of appreciation for her contribution to cultural exchange between Spain and Japan.
She has made several recordings with Columna Música, released a new album of her own works (Yoko Piano, Lágrima de luna), and is currently a regular collaborator of the Pau Casals Foundation.
