On February 2,the research grants of the Pau Casals UNESCO Chair open their fourth call with the aim of promoting research on the musical and humanistic legacy of Pablo Casals. Interested applicants may submit their applications until April 12, 2026.
Research grants with a financial allocation of €2,000
Each beneficiary will receive a grant of €2,000 for their project and will benefit from the support and guidance of a committee of experts. In addition, participants will have access to the Pablo Casals Fund, housed at the National Archive of Catalonia, as well as to other resources linked to the Chair.
The focus of the research projects may be on the figure and the musical or humanistic legacy of Pablo Casals, as well as on other themes such as human rights, the culture of peace, international social justice, and the role of music in social cohesion and conflict prevention.This call is aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy and therefore highlights the values that Pablo Casals defended throughout his life.
Open call for students and researchers worldwide
The grants are open to students and researchers from all over the world. Research projects related to undergraduate, master’s, postgraduate final projects, doctoral theses, or other research aligned with the objectives of this call may be submitted, within the framework of a private curricular research trajectory.

About the Pau Casals UNESCO Chair
The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair is an initiative created in 2022 in partnership between the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Pau Casals Foundation, with the aim of promoting research and dissemination of Pau Casals’ legacy and the values he defended throughout his life. The Chair fosters the commitment of music and culture to the major social challenges of today, supporting research on the role of music in intercultural dialogue, and the defense of human rights and multilateralism.
