On March 6th at 18:30h the Pau Casals Foundation will present in the Chamber Hall of the Conservatori del Liceu a new initiative with the aim of supporting and promoting the training and professional career of young cellists.
This is the loan of the Laberte cello to young cellists. This cello was built by the French luthier Marc Laberte in 1921. The instrument is an exact copy of a Guarnerius with which Casals played more than 55 concerts in the United States, Belgium and England.
This initiative of the Pau Casals Foundation, made possible thanks to the patronage of Dr. Joan Uriach, will be presented at the event, and the public will be able to enjoy the performance of the young cellist Biel Garriga, who will have the honor of playing this cello for an extendable period of one year.
This initiative has the collaboration of Arnau Tomàs, cellist of the Casals Quartet, Bernard Meillat, musical advisor of the Pau Casals Foundation and Peter Thiemann, cellist and collaborator of the Foundation.
