This website brings together all three of the Pau Casals Foundation’s main areas of activity: it showcases the life of Pablo Casals, features the Pau Casals Museum’s website, and provides information on the Foundation’s projects and activities. Pablo Casals: from musician to man of Peace
The new website serves as a key tool for getting to know Pablo Casals‘ life. Through the biography, the chronology and also the extensive discography and the compositions section, the visitor can gain deeper knowledge of this great musician. This website is designed to grow and become a platform for quality content on the life and work of Pablo Casals.
The Pau Casals Archive and the Pau Casals Museum’s collection online
One of the new features of the new website is that the Pau Casals Archive and the Museum’s collections are now available online. The Pau Casals Foundation is working to digitise the Pau Casals Archive, currently stored at the National Archive of Catalonia, in order to make it available to everyone. The first stage of this digitisation is shown on the new website, where you will find textual, image, sound and audiovisual and graphic collections concerning Pablo Casals.
Find out about the Pablo Casals Museum’s collection online, grouped into different sections: art collections, personal objects, commemorative objects, musical instruments and furniture.
The Pau Casals Museum: a unique heritage space
The website also includes a new page on the Pablo Casals Museum with all the information you need to plan your visit, discover its collections, exhibitions, educational project and learn about the historical evolution of the Vil·la Casals. You can also browse the Museum’s activities calendar and take advantage of the events by purchasing your tickets online. The museum is currently closed for renovation and is scheduled to reopen in spring 2022. Until 9 January 2022, you can visit the temporary exhibition “100 years of the Orchestra Pau Casals. Musical Excellence and Social Commitment”.
We are keeping Pablo Casals’ musical and humanitarian legacy alive
The Pau Casals Foundation promotes projects and activities to support young cellists, bring music closer to the public and raise awareness of Pablo Casals for new generations. These include the Pablo Casals International Award for Young Cellists, which in 2022 will have a new edition open to candidates from all over the world, and other projects such as the Pablo Casals Day-Barcelona, the Conversations with Music and commemorations such as the Orchestra Pau Casals Centenary and the 50th anniversary since the première of Pablo Casals’ Hymn to the United Nations.
